Tester Engineering Limited is run by James (Jim) Tester, son of the late Jim Tester Snr.
Tester Engineering is run by James Tester, son of the late Jim Tester.
James moved to the stunning scenery of Perthshire, Scotland with his family at an early age where his father ran the original Tester Engineering from the family home. Jim was a highly regarded engineer, building, renovating and preparing prestigious historic cars. His work with the Jaguar XK engine and XK120’s was particularly special and it was in this magical environment that James grew up.
The plan had always been for James to leave school and work in the family business and so before his death in 1994, Jim had imparted his knowledge to his son and had overseen James’ education in all the skills he would need for the future. With his plans now radically changed the young James came back to England in 1996 to begin his working life, which involved working with Formula One to Touring Cars, historic grand prix cars to classic GT winners.
In 2005 James’ desire to pick up where his father left really took hold and in November of that year the next generation of Tester Engineering was born.
James had, by this time, earned himself an enviable reputation of his own, as a highly knowledgeable and skilled engineer and an extremely talented fabricator. James took this experience to build an updated Tester Engineering, not only specialising in historic cars but in all forms of Motorsport; cars and bikes; historic and modern.
In 2009 Tester Engineering, now Jim and wife Claire as Company Secretary, welcomed Iain Purves to the fold to help the company continue with its mission: to evolve and work towards becoming an industry leader in classic car build and restoration and modern motorsport fabrication.
Jim, Claire and Iain all have a passion for motor sport and when not at the workshop can be found at racetracks around the country or devouring any action on TV! They live and breathe motor sport and this reflects in the dedication and enthusiasm put into each project undertaken. The desire to promote the beauty and enjoyment of all forms of motor car and motor racing means that with each project, clients receive a not only an outstanding product, but a little bit of the Tester Engineering passion leaves the workshop with it!
